Congressional Issues

I believe that our Constitution the cornerstone of our democracy and the foundation of our individual rights and personal autonomy as American citizens.
During this past election cycle, the American people sent a strong message to Congress that it is time to return to common sense principles of limited government and fiscal responsibility. To achieve this, Congress must cut spending and focus on creating jobs in the private sector, rather than increase the size and scope of the federal government. According to a 2010 Small Business Administration report, the cost of implementing our current regulatory framework is $1.7 trillion annually. My colleagues in Congress and I intend to prioritize regulatory reform and are continually looking for new ways to cut spending and reduce our national deficit. I look forward to working with other Members in the House of Representatives to provide government oversight and rein in excessive regulation.
Ensuring that substantive and procedural due process rights are scrupulously maintained is one of my high priorities. I support efforts to ensure that the American people are afforded their full judicial liberties guaranteed by the United States Constitution. I will keep your views in mind should legislation regarding these issues be brought to the House floor.
