Tipton Joins GOP Freshmen Colleagues in Message to Senate on ‘888’
Calling on the Senate to Take Action and Join House Efforts to Turn Around the Economy

Washington, D.C. – Today marks 888 days since the United States Senate has passed a budget. In addition to passing a budget the House has passed more than a dozen pro-jobs bills this session, many with bipartisan support, that are now awaiting a vote in the Senate.

Rep. Scott Tipton joined 36 of his Freshmen colleagues today in sending a message to the Senate, highlighting the pro-jobs legislation passed in the House and asking them to join with the House in turning around our economy.

“We have passed significant jobs legislation in the House to turn around our economy and get the budget in check. Today we ask our colleagues in the Senate to join our efforts to help get Americans back to work,” Tipton said. “We all agree there is a major problem, but only talking about the magnitude of the issue fails to accomplish anything. The American people need Washington to act. Today we call upon the Senate to allow the legislative process to work, by taking action and passing the pro-jobs legislation we have sent them. Help us turn around our economy.”

From the joint message: “It has been 888 days since the U.S. Senate has passed a budget. The time to act is now. With 14 million Americans out of work and millions more underemployed, we can’t afford to waste another day.”
