Rep. Tipton Announces $3.5 Million Grant for Grand Junction Regional Airport Improvements
WASHINGTON D.C. – The Department of Transportation (DOT) recently notified the office of Representative Scott Tipton (CO-03) that it would award the Grand Junction Regional Airport a discretionary grant of $3.5 million to be used for runway construction.
“We learned last week that Grand Junction will soon be the headquarters for the Bureau of Land Management, and this grant notification could not have been made at a better time,” said Tipton. “The Grand Junction community can expect an increase in airport use once the BLM headquarters transition is complete and this grant will have a tremendous effect in ensuring the airport is capable of handling that demand.”
The award is granted through the DOT’s Airport Improvement Program administered by the Federal Aviation Administration. This program provides grants to public and private entities for planning and development of public-use airports in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems, which includes nearly 3,300 airports nationwide. This program reports to Congress every five years with recommendations for airport improvements.
