WASHINGTON— Agriculture, Energy and Trade Subcommittee Chairman Scott Tipton (R-CO) today held a hearing to examine how the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) proposed GIPSA rule could hurt thousands of small businesses in the beef, pork and poultry industries, further damage our already unstable economy, and cost thousands of American jobs.
WASHINGTON—Earlier this week the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry approved H.R. 872, the Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act of 2011. Congressman Tipton, an original co-sponsor of the pro-jobs bill, urged Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to quickly bring the bill to the floor of the Senate for passage.
Secretary Geithner displayed the Administration’s tin ear to job creation when he told the House Small Business Committee today that raising taxes on as many as 770,000 small businesses is a ‘reasonable strategy.

WASHINGTON – Rep. Scott Tipton (CO-03), member of the House Natural Resources Committee, released this statement after Department of the Interior (DOI) Secretary Ken Salazar announced his decision, in a memo to Bureau of Land Management Director Bob Abbey, to not implement DOI’s Wild Lands policy.
Today, Rep. Scott Tipton (R-CO) was joined by Reps. Mike Coffman (R-CO) and Joe Walsh (R-IL) in announcing that they are gathering signatures from fellow members of the House for a letter they plan to send to President Obama later this week. The letter urges the President to retract comments about Israel’s borders made during a speech about Middle East issues last week. The President suggested that Israel revert to the territory it held prior to 1967.
