Tipton Statement on Passage of Bill to Improve Transparency of Education Opportunities for Veterans
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Scott Tipton (R-CO) issued this statement following House passage of H.R. 4057, the Improving Transparency of Education Opportunities for Veterans Act of 2012.
“When our troops complete their service to our nation, it’s important that the government fulfils its obligation to assist them in preparing to reenter into civilian life. Today we passed legislation in the House of Representatives to ease this transition by requiring that the Secretary of Veterans Affairs increase outreach to veterans and military members on the availability of education and vocational counseling, post secondary education and other training opportunities and resources. This common sense legislation will ensure that our military personnel and veterans are well-informed about the resources available to them as they transition from the Service into careers in the civilian workforce.”
The CBO projects that H.R. 4057 will result in an overall cost savings of $1 million.
